I am going to Doctor Who at The FAB cafe this Sunday in Manchestr.

They had three ‘Doctor Who at The Cavern,’ then The Cavern got greedy, so my friends were lucky to get backing from the fellow who runs The Fab Caféin Manchester. So Liverpool lost out.

I will get to see my favourite Doctor, other than David Tennant, Sylvester McCoy. [And Ace, Sophie Aldred.]

At one of em, I got to see Debbie Watling. the photo's were up. should have seen me. just like a 14 year old schoolboy.

To see someone who had meant something to me, way back then, was awesome: should have seen me the first time I met Sophie Aldred.

OH GOD! [looking forward to this time!]

Clive Owen's Smith character is the Bugs Bunny to Paul Giamatti's Hertz Elmer Fudd.



{And yes, he munches on a lot of carrots: even finds uses for those he doesn’t eat.]



And for me, Monica Belluci was superb as a lactating hooker, who joins Mr Smith as he tries to save the baby.



The bad puns are so bad they're good; the action sequences are there just for the sake of having an action sequence; and it has the wildest sex scene ever...it's an amazing film.

After just two days of rain, between the sun fine weather we’ve enjoyed, the privet hedge out front had really shot out, with new growth, so had to be cut back.

Well, as it was the hedges first cut of the year, it really needed a cut, not trim.

And, short as it is, my Father wanted it cut down to the height of the small wall in front of our home. It’d been back-breaking work, yet I had to work fast as I soon had to leave, to go sign on: but it had looked good once I’d finished. Just a little while later as I began my walk, the rain fell, that warm sort of straight down rain, which drenches you quickly. That said, I hadn’t minded as by the time I was a third of the way, hyper-mode had set in. Consequently, come the evening quite the opposite set in, with a state of lassitude I haven’t known for ages. There’s just no two ways about it, I am still very much a driven individual: swings and roundabouts, that’s me and my moods and self. One or the other: with little sense of in-between, except when I take the time to think out what it is that I should be doing, ideally before I do it.

I left VR and went in the kitchen, to listen to the radio, as I did myself something to eat. I had quickly ended up regretting doing so, interesting as it was. I had heard about cases of swine-flu in and several cases in New York: School kids who had been to Mexico. There was also another case recorded in the U.S. so far, that fellow had been to Can-Cum, Mexico. When his wife showed symptoms too, they did tests and it seemed that this was a new variant. That may explain why death’s in Mexico and none in America. Meanwhile, a member of B.A. cabin staff has been reported as showing similar swine flu like symptoms and is in a side room, isolated from other patients. And, in one breath, the World Health are saying be cautious, this is not a pandemic: and, on the other you have our Health Officials saying, if it is, we are all stocked up and ready, just in case. I have to ask, “Is that enough? Just in case all ninety million of us in England get it??” It’s a thought, isn’t it?

Then I woke at just before nine on a sunny Sunday morning, as my Dad cleaned the drains, in time to hear the news: it seems that it’s eighty-one dead in Mexico and eleven confirmed cases on the radio. And, ‘they’ say the cabin member in England is now known to be showing negative. And, being the suspicious sod I am, I’m tempted to say, “Well, they would say that, wouldn’t they??”

Just since tonight.. the frustration began.

My day began learning of more cookies on VR; which is an irritant on the old machine I use: then someone arguing the toss about the ammount of weed was his: at the end of a night.

That was all after watching a really good film, ['City Of Ember') and, having a smoke.

Anyway's, then he kicked off.

Irrespective as to how much was owed to whom, I was happy to safisfy. My argument being, why argue about weed. Anyways, that's how UI saw it: after helping my Mum to bed and locking the house up. Weed is nice, sure: but, some things are worth a hell of a lot more.

['City Of Ember' was absolutely superb and to be recommended, to everyone. Good plot, good story, good special effects. Yep, great film.]

And, I had been on the radio, early Saturday morning, with my little tale of someone doing me a random act of kindness. And, the folks went out for their Saturday meal…

When Stephanie Naumoska appeared in the Australia finals of the Miss Universe contest her ribs and hip bones were clearly visible.



She was hoping to represent her country in the Miss Universe contest, and she certainly had a figure that turned heads.



Unfortunately for Stephanie Naumoska, and to the consternation of health experts, it was for all the wrong reasons.



Critics said the 19-year-old was just skin and bone. With her 31-25-35 measurements she seemed to have trouble filling her already skimpy bikini as she paraded before the judges at the Australian finals of the pageant in Sydney.



Fortunately, from this authors point of view, she did not win, instead that honour went to Rachael Finch who beat Miss Naumoska to be crowed Miss Universe in the Australian leg of the contest.



Personally I feel it was outragrous, that another size zero [or less] is out there, portraying herself as a normal body shape.



She looks malnourished and a reject from Belsen: noway should anyone of that size be on a catwalk, in my opinion.



After all, too many women already have a poor sense of their own body image, thanks to the perceptions put out via the media. I though we’d had enough of heroin chic, now it seems they’re venerated as beauty contestants. “Er, why??”

By early Wednesday morning I had finished the proofreading for Karl and sent it off.

Now maybe, I’ll be able to finish a story or two!



Meanwhile, the saga of the camera and me continues. I had taken my ‘old’ camera with me to Karl’s last Sunday. His answer to it not working was to hit it on its bottom: and the camera then decided to work once again.



“Loose connection,” he told me, rather stating the obvious, “a pity really, I was rather looking forward to an extra memory card.” [I had been going to give him the 2gig card for use in his camera, an updated version of mine: past tense.]



Then, days later, the camera I’d obtained as a replacement just up and died, just like that, which left me with a real quandary. I needed, repeat needed, a camera for the Doctor Who gig on the 3rd of May. So something had to be done and quick.



Well, I still have bad memories of the obstreperous manager I dealt with in a Curry’s store, when I tried to return my DVD recorder, but the ‘new’ camera came from a Curry’s and I had the receipt.



So on a bright sunny day, I donned my working trousers and jacket [smart, for an office] and worked to the shopping and industrial estate on the other side of Bromborough, to see about a refund, or exchange.



The whole thing went surprisingly well, even though the 28 day period stated on the receipt was well over: and now, I have what wanted and need, a camera that works, for the 3rd May and the Doctor's [plural] at The FAB Café.

The Spirit was excellent. Wolverine will be worth seeing, I think: follows the story well.

I’ve had a ‘thing’ about students, ever since that miserable bunch of scumsuckers that is Liverpool University pulled out of our project, in part because there was more funding to be found in Asylum Seekers.



Thursday night though, I encountered some students from Gloucester who seemed socially aware and actually cared, just like John and Mina are: three of ‘em!



For an old jaundiced git like me, that was a sheer delight. I mean, I’ve grown used to John and Mina being as helpful as they are: and, even that talk time.



They came to study us, [**grins**] but helped out. Well, the guy did, in a way that some volunteers don’t, on their first evening with us. I’d been impressed and considering what I think of some students [not all] that was most pleasant indeed.



Just as pleasant, was the new volunteer Nadia’s appearance: As we walked back into town later, I’d told her she brings ‘colour into a grey world’ and Anne had said to me later, that ‘she’s pretty inside, as well as outside.’



And, still the missing USB was on my brain, the loss of which has driven me nuts for days Now, as it has all my useful ‘business’ information.



That and the dead camera have been a major bugbear for days.



Then, I was given a camera, only weeks old, with booklet and receipt. [Cool!]

And, after the project, I got home, [shattered] to learn that my little Mother had fallen again: and she’d fallen badly.



She had been up a ladder, and then fell off and onto the fridge. Needless to say, she had gone to the hospital, with a wound on her head that had needed three stitches.



[I had gone cold and wanted, with tingles in my legs, when I was told that you’d been able to see her skull.]



My Dad had a very cautious go at cleaning the excess dried blood off her scalp and putting a bandage on her. But little Mother ended up looking like one of those characters from early Warner Bros. Cartoons, waiting for the dentist.



I had done a ‘proper’ head bandage for her, which had been made difficult; as they hadn’t used a full triangular bandage when she hurt her arm: [cheapskates!] So I’d actually had very little to work with.



Come Friday morning, she was up and around, telling my Father what shopping needed to be got and assuring me, ‘my head isn’t too bad.’



I had reminded her, that unlike her Mother, who similarly had some rather bad accidents [as she had as she died slowly, through dementia] she hasn’t the ability to bounce. She just doesn’t have the body shape my Gran had: [rather small & round] she’s my little Mother, who’s more than a little fragile.

On my return from Karl’s I learnt I had lost my glasses. So, I contacted him: “You had them when you left mine,” he had told me, which intimated that I had lost my reading glasses, on the train.



I’d taken them, to help with his dissitation, which he needs, as he is dyslexic.

Either way, a load of good t.v. shows didn’t compensate their loss: besides which, I brought his work with me, to finish off.



Then come The Easter Monday, my friends Janet and John called to goto Thurstaston and take me. Well, they were on the way to Wales and mine was on the way: and, a trip to the green is always’ pleasant.



John had a palm-top with him, with a Tom-Tom fitted: it also had an uncensored Ozzy Osborne giving the directions. Being told, “You’re fuckin there” was funny.



We had found the sandstone Thors Rock, which gave Thurstaston its name, but there were so many kids onnit, we nearly didn’t go ourselves. But we had.



Janet’s comment was ‘what was there about having kids that made you stop having fun?’ We had been the only adults climbing said rock.



On my return, I found that my Sony Cyber-shot 4.1 is dead… stone dead: and what’s worse was that it had all the films and pics I had taken throughout the day!

Sunday was another good day, today.. well, bar losing a pair of photochromatic reading glasses.

I'd taken this to Karl's, to help me, as I helped him.. and, lost them on my return home: they probably dropped out of my pocket onto the seat next to me, on the train.. Grrrr.



I did obtain, the last 'Heroes'; the last Sarah Conner.. and 'Gran Tureno', to watch.



[..and, more 'Fringe' and, 'Dollhouse.'



I also obtained 'The Spirit:' and, I am so looking forward to seeing that.

Doctor Who: Planet Of the Dead

At times witty and stylish, this was a marvellous slice of scifi hokum, with enough witty one-liners to sink a battleship [or ‘Titanic’, if to recall a previous story.]



“Hello, I’m the Doctor. Happy Easter!” Asks The Doctor, proffering a piece of chocolate from half an Easter egg to a passenger on the bus he’s just boarded.



And then, the titles rolled.



Michelle Ryan [late of looked the re-make of ‘The Bionic Woman’] was great as David Tennant’s Doctor’s cat-suit wearing assistant, Lady Christina de Souza, a cat-burglar, who is on the red London bus that disappears.



“Uh-huh, we’ve got excitations,” says the Doctor, looking at a gizmo in his hand: “

“I’m picking up something very strange”



“I know the feeling,” mutters Lady Christina de Souza, in response.



And, when Tarrant’s Doctor looks to the camera, as he says to the passengers, ‘I will get you home’, you believe him; such is the conviction Tennant brings to the role.



Lee Evans, [comedian/actor] as U.N.I.T.’s scientific assistant was good: and even got the opportunity to ‘save the Doctor’ and tell him, “I love you, I love you.”



[Lee Evan’s is obviously a fan of the show, from childhood. Or, he was playing for the role, for his kids, as so many do now: so popular is The Doctor currently.]



The story was pure escapist fun, with a suitable nemesis, with shades of ‘Pitch Black’

With some wonderful special effects, this was a light-hearted romp, compared to the darker stories it foretold of, that will lead to David Tennant leaving the show and Matt Smith taking the role.

Got in from the project and there’s something about seeing to meals to others, that makes you appreciate taste and colour and texture, of food, just that little bit more.

As I ate, I read the Radio Times, to plan my viewing for the next few days, as you do.

Well, I discovered I had plenty to view, if I want to: and, I do.

Good Friday there’s new ‘Red Dwarf’, shown on Dave at 9:00, over three nights.

Seems it’ll be there as BBC2 said ‘no’, according to its stars & they should know.

It will be interesting to see how they mix it up with ‘Coronation Street’.

And, as if that isn’t enough: there’s new ‘Doctor Who’, Saturday 6:45 and from all I’ve read, it look like the beginning of the build-up to David Tennant’s departure.



Now, that will be interesting!!!

You sit there, wondering whether she would phone in fifteen minutes, as you’d asked and you’re anxious, as you write. The other day you’d met her friend in the benefit office, which had prompted you dig an old address book out, which held her Mother’s phone number and a long call.



And you’re curious, whether you’ll tell her of the erotic story that you had written with her and her ex as character’s in it, just a week or so, before the interview at the dole, where you’d happened to meet her friend; with whom you’d railed against the training agency TNG, with written evidence as to why?



It’s a fact that you are still deliberating on sharing, when the phone just to you r left rings.”



Now, one again you sit with a monitor and keyboard for company, as arthritic fingers dance like crabs fingers, as it walks and you smile at the memory of what you think, as you type.



And you still feel as you had described feeling, when she had phoned. And, you had described the advert for Ready Break and the little boy with a warm glow. That is me that is,” you’d told her.

I called on a friend and met an acquaintance of his, an older friend, of the family, with his first digital camera: he’d been told I could help, so I had. [I would’ve anyway.] Then just a short while later the fellow smiled alot, seeing me work on my friends PC: sitting in the full lotus.

He just couldn’t get over it: so I out my legs round my neck. “At 49!” He’d exclaimed with surprise.”

Just before I went out for my walk, I went to pass through the living-room and my folks were watching ‘David Dickinson’s Real Deal’, the auction show.

“Coming from Southport…” the announcer had said, at which my ears perked up somewhat.

“You won’t be on it," says my Dad, “there’s been at least five, or six from Southport and I haven’t seen you yet!”

But, still wondering whether I’d be seen or not, I stood there to watch. Then as soon as the titles finished rolling and the first fellow was shown with someone from the public with their item to be valued, there was me in the background. Now, it was filmed awhile ago, when I had worked as a runner, with one or two others and for that scene, I did fill-in work; so the camera would show someone watching the fellow appraising the antiques.

It turns out the reason I stopped hearing from the girl who was on the confidence course, was her losing even more, when her fellow dumped her by text. I learnt that from her Mother, when I phoned, after meeting her friend, who works in my benefit office and hasn’t seen her for awhile either.



Thing was, my friend had known more than me about her low self-esteem.. yet, never attended to it.. just kept writing lists, about seeking change: and, never doing it.

So sue me, I liked Dolph Lungren in the role. Thomas Jane was a schemer, whilst Ray Stevenson as the eponymous Frank Castle, a.k.a The Punisher is just plain mean nasty and vicious. And, considering for years the vigilante/anti-hero was for years one of my favourite comic characters, for years; it’s been interesting to see the development of the film interpretations.

And “yes” I liked ‘Punisher: Warzone’, from the first scene-setting carnage in the dining-room, to the somewhat light-hearted, yet ‘philosophical’ end.

... awesome, for a gift. iffit works!

Before I went to Karl’s, I did a few little film of the new PC, to get his opinion on my acquisition: and, to see what he thought I’d need. As we chatted about films and TV, he checked over the footage, saying to me, ‘You won’t know what to so with it!’

I’d just told him that it is a P4 Packard Bell, with 160 GB and it looks like the only thing missing from it is a CD drive: well, that and what looks lie the additional graphics card that had been innit. Now, iffit works, that’s awesome, for a gift.

Needless to sat, soon I was home and the meal was had, I started putting films to disc: starting with Sarah Connor 2:21 and Forbidden Science 1:08 & 1:09



And boy, am I looking forward to seeing ‘Punisher 2 – War Zone.’



At least I’ll have them to look forward to: I have an interview with the benefit people tomorrow six months on the rock and roll.

Aye, ‘tis sunny outside: and, I’m typing as ‘Dollhouse’ 1:04 plays in the background, having just watched episodes six and seven of Forbidden Science.’

Both shows are about identity: and maybe ‘coz I’m adopted, I relate to the central characters and there pain felt, as they encounter difficulties with sense of self.

It’s a thought, as is the fact that it’s nearly noon and the blue-Tit will be at rest awhile, so I can get out into the bright sunshine, to edge the front-lawn.

The exercise will be good for my shoulder; it’s been in pain since I woke.

Aye, ruminating as ever. I had a bout of depression two Thursdays ago. Not as bad as when I left the dole in Birkenhead and began a long walk home, almost suicidal.

But, it had still be a tilt to this rather contented world of mine I hadn’t needed.



This week, I’m better. This week I watch the pretty ladies in town getting ready for race day at Aintree and I smile, glad the weather is good, for them: still curious as to why people thing orange means a ‘healthy tan,’ to these scantily-clad lovelies.



Aye, enough ruminating … there’s chores to do once the shows over.

Since 2005 I’ve been on Vampirerave. I was drawn to the place by an excellent piece of writing and stayed. And, though at first I’d used the place simply as a platform solely for my stories and artwork I had met one or two people who I’d have liked to share time with [and perhaps a glass of wine, or two!?!]



And, isn’t that the measure of someone’s worth to you, ‘that you’d want to give your time to that person’?



It’s all about the connections that we make, both online and in real life.



Online though, these connections are very important. For without the stimuli that actual contact provides, they’re the catalyst that acts to further stimulate further interest in another person.

Perhaps for example, they stayed online, instead of going to bed, in an effort to catch you online, just to say ‘hello’ when you log-on; or perhaps, they might have gone to the trouble of making a video for you, to please, interest, or arouse?

I got talking with someone this afternoon and they had told me of their intended holiday to The Lakes, a truly beautiful part of England.

And, it occurred to me, don’t we know of someone who sits in all day and plays games on their X-Box, drinking and fornicating their lives away? Personally, I’d rather be out, enjoying the Green and what’s real, like that young Lady I’d been talking to. It just doesn’t seem right, when there’s so much beauty in the world, to be an X-Box junkie.

All Fools day missed me. I stayed in.

I did get given a PC. a pentium 4 though.

It's spec is about twenty times the one I am working on.

And, on a sunny day, I got my net curtains washed: small room, I smoke.. they were filthy.
